Bloomington 7th Ward's Gordon Dee Childs is called "Home"

Gordon Dee Childs passed away March 26, 2011 of
cancer. He was born Oct 26, 1931 in Gunnison,
Utah. Son of Edward S. Childs and Evelyn P. Childs.

Gordon attended Snow College and the University of
Utah. He went on an LDS mission to Sweden. After,
he served two years in the US Army in Germany as a
Lt. Col. In the 40th Signal Corp. where he ran a post
office during the Korean War. While in Germany he
married Irmgard Schillinger. That marriage ended in
divorce with Gordon being granted custody of their
five children: Marty, Connie, Charmaine, Barry and
Monette. In 1973, he met and married Peggy Lee
Hobbs Montague. They were later sealed in the Salt
Lake Temple. He adopted her two children,
Stephanie and Greg. He worked at Zellerbach Paper
Company in Salt Lake City as a Sales Representative
for 20 years. Gordon and Peggy moved to
Bloomington, Utah where he worked as a Realtor
with ERA Brokers Consolidated. After retirement he
served as a volunteer art instructor for the St.
George Senior Center for over 16 years. His
paintings now hang in many homes and offices. He
is survived by his wife, Peggy, and their 7 children:
Marty (Regina) Childs, Connie Childs, Charmaine
(Steve) Milner, Barry (Donna) Childs, Monette
(Shawn) Lunt, Stephanie (Brent) Schmutz, and Greg
Childs; 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1
great great-grandchild. Henry Van Winkle, a former
foster child, has always been part of Gordon and
Peggy's family.


The family wishes to thank the people at Rocky
Mountain Care for their kind and loving care.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 29,
2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington 7th Ward
Mulberry Chapel, 3381 Mulberry Drive, St. George,
Utah. Visitation will be held Monday, March 28, from
4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:
45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at
Tonaquint Cemetery under the direction of McMillan
Mortuary 688-8880

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Child's family as they mourn the loss of this beloved man.
